Review on πŸ”Ή Hunter Newsome Premier Bronze Indoor Ceiling Fan 52" with Convenient Pull Chain Control by Stephanie Zebell

Non self balancing Best lighting and ceiling fans

I bought 2 of these for my 18ft cathedral ceiling even though they were mounted on a ridge and not pitched. I extended them with 2 foot poles. Only a professional can balance them. They are not self-balancing, and the knife set properties (clamps that hold the blades) are poor and really unacceptable. Both fans fluctuated heavily and rotated counter-clockwise. Forget the fan balance kit. The problem is that iron cutting sets are completely out of spec. It took me hours to measure the angles they created. I have tools for making golf clubs. The blades themselves are pretty much in line with the weight. You will need to measure the angle of the iron set where it will be screwed into the fan case and the distance from the blade at the end of a relatively flat surface. It really is everywhere. I had to route a blade and bend the pot's metal brackets to eliminate the wobble. This is PITA. Hunter customer service was great and sent me an extra set of blades. I've been installing fans for over 40 years and they are comparable to the crude fans of the 1970's which required fine tuning to avoid wobbling. It's hard enough to install 2 fans on an 18" ceiling and fumbling around all day trying to balance them really makes things worse. If you enjoy spending time balancing a fan while almost every other fan on the market is balanced, then this option is for you. I made the mistake of buying them thinking the 1970's were over and now all balanced fans are so expensive. Cosmetically they are quite simple. The accommodation is rather small. The picture is a little deceptive. The blades are made of monkey wood, like most fan blades these days. I would buy them again if they fall below 25€.
