built-in screen protector shows ugly smudges, loss of screen sensitivity in the corners

UPDATE: After using the case for a few days, I noticed that the screen protector sometimes caused problems with my Apple Pencil 1 -Gen and even my finger are not always registered on the screen. It didn't happen often, but was annoying when using apps like Fame. The screen also looks discolored / oil on water making the display very reflective with iridescent smudges all over the place. I just received my case after two horrible days of carrying my iPad naked on college campus πŸ˜… Luckily there were no incidents. I half expected this case to be lighter since it doubles the weight of the iPad Air, but it's a small compromise for added protection. The profile of the case is still quite thin compared to similarly designed cases. As for the feel of the case, the exterior coating on the front and back feels like faux leather, which I don't really care about, although again, for the price of the case, that's a minor thing I can live with. I will come back and update this review after using the case for a while. I'm excited to see how well the marble and rose gold design holds up over the course of the semester. Attaching the case to my device was fairly easy, but I'm a little concerned at how much effort it took to attach the front. The case may have scratched the corners of my iPad, although I have no way of checking without removing it, which would be quite counterproductive. The back of the case slides open easily, providing easy access to the power and volume buttons. As for the built-in screen protector, I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. Before applying to my iPad Air, I cleaned the screen with a microfiber cloth. I also used a cloth to clean the protector after application. There seem to be a few spots on the tread that seem to "pull" or "stick" when using a pencil or finger. After using the case for a few days, I noticed that the screen protector sometimes causes problems with my 1st generation Apple Pencil and even my finger doesn't always register on the screen. It didn't happen often, but was annoying when using apps like Fame. The screen also has a discolored/oily appearance on the water making the display very reflective and like iridescent spots all over the place. Love the space for the Apple Pencil but a little sad that I can't use the pencil stylus. because there is not enough space.
