Comfortable base layer under another top/dress/etc but material is thick enough to wear solo and look stylish (bought black material). Bought a handful for work to cover up tattoos and it's breathable, stretchy but not too warm. Great for my needs. The amount of material around the neck is perfect - not too long, not excessive, not bulky. Hang to dry and these tops will last a while. I will buy more. However, the torso length is a little shorter than ideal, but my 5ft 9in tops go great with high waisted bottoms.
