The towel in the pouch is dry to the touch but the chemical is present and can be wiped over the lenses to prevent fogging. I like that the chemical doesn't dry out over time and I can use the same towel multiple times. The chemical leaves a light oily residue on the lens which is visible in whorls but is difficult to see and I don't see it when wearing glasses. I also tested this by going outside on a cold day and after re-entering a warm room the lenses were still clear with very little fogging. There is still condensation on the lenses, but not in the form of fog. Overall I am happy with this product and it is easy to keep several of these packs in a pocket or purse to carry around.
