Review on UL Listed AIMS Power 3000W Pure SINE Inverter: 12VDC to 120VAC Conversion Efficiency by Frank Dubey

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Only worked well for 3 weeks.

I chose this inverter for its price and performance and it was recommended to me at a solar generator assembly site. I have built 5 more solar generators and have used Go Power brand inverters which still work great after years of heavy dusty and dirty use in my work trucks. I recently tried this brand of Aims and within 3 weeks something inside the unit was clicking after I connected a Dewalt 20v charger and a burning smoke smell was coming from the inverter. It won't turn back on. I'm currently awaiting a response from customer service to either fix it or return it for a refund so I can spend the extra money on a trusted Go Power brand. They're twice the price, but worth the hassle of repairing, returning, repairing, and waiting. Thank goodness I always carry a backup inverter with me, otherwise two mini-fridges full of groceries and not being able to charge tools during a remote job that requires me to camp 40 miles from a city would be a disaster. I suspect this unit couldn't handle the dust even after being blown out with an air purifier every day. A lot of cheap Chinese stuff has crappy solder joints connecting electronics that I've found over the years. So stay tuned.
