When laying out all the parts to assemble the biomask, I was very careful with them. I have read the instructions many times and followed them verbatim. Then I found that it wasn't opening because I was being too sensitive to it. So I changed my approach, grabbed the size adjuster tightly, pulled it out, and pushed it back to fit my head. Then I took the shield and stuck it into the ledges that held it. Don't be afraid to make a mistake as 10 interchangeable shields are included. I find the bio mask much easier to wear than the industrial fabric masks that everyone wears.
