Young children may find it difficult to get the shooter to work. I don't know why they didn't just have a trigger to fire a nerf dart. You need to load the arrow, pull the base by the handle to prime it. Then you need to hold the trigger, then swing the trigger, then release the trigger near the end of the stroke and RELEASE the trigger while still holding the trigger. I see many kids lose their footing trying to master this feature! Sturdy and cool, but the Nerf dart feature shouldn't be the main reason to buy it or you'll be disappointed!
