I've been using an FDM printer for a long time and am very happy with it; However, I have always been disappointed by the quality of the fine details. I bought the Qidi S box because it had great reviews and the largest build volume for less than $1,000. The learning curve from FDM to polymer isn't all that bad. The Chitubox Slicer is easy to use and it only took you a few minutes to find familiar tools and unique settings. I bought Qidi Tech resin in hopes that I wouldn't have to adjust any of the default settings for the first few prints while I learned how to use the printer. I just love the print quality! With the default settings, my prints were perfect! Much easier to set up and print than my FDM printer; However, cleaning is a bit more labor intensive. Just take your time and invest in the right tools. In addition to the printer, I bought a silicone work mat, silicone funnel and metal filter, 99.8% IPA, nitrile gloves, solar powered UV lamp and turntable, and an ultrasonic cleaner. You don't need all of these extras, but they make cleaning a lot easier. Oh, and I also learned the hard way to make sure your prints are 100% dry before drying them in the sun or under a UV lamp. If you don't do this, your prints will develop a white cast wherever they were wet. After the first two prints, I had questions about the printer. The FEP film became a little cloudy and I heard the first ten build layers "pop" as the build platform rose after each layer cured. I emailed Qidi Tech Support and received a response within a few hours. Both conditions are perfectly normal and will not affect your printouts. Qidi Tech's customer service is fantastic and very helpful. I would not have bought this printer if I hadn't seen positive customer support reviews after purchase and I can attest that they are great! I've had a few conversations and it's obvious that Qidi Tech really wants you to be happy with your printer. I've included some images to try and show the printer's ability to capture fine detail. I only have one photo to compare the Qidi S-Box and my FDM printer. This is Desk O Bot (found on Thingiverse). The painted red dome is from my FDM printer and the unpainted gray dome is from the Qidi S-Box. The resin is much smoother, with a lot more detail, and I was able to print the case as a single unit. I couldn't do it on my FDM printer. I had to cut the legs in half, glue them together, and then glue the legs to the body. Otherwise I will not get quality parts. In comparison, the Qidi S-Box is a dream! I highly recommend this printer!
