I use this for several items. As a laptop stand, the lip is high enough to hold my 17 inch screen in place. The mouse pad is not suitable for the intended use. I keep pens and sticky notepads on it so they don't get lost on the couch or chair. I also use it for crafts and turn it so the edge is at the back so beads, rhinestones and other bits and pieces don't roll off the back. As others have said, it can be difficult to quickly find the right angle every time, so below is a list of my most common configurations. Also, it's easier to level the bottom of the table first and then adjust the rest to see what works best. This way everything stays on the same level without having to go back and change anything.
