Unless you're constantly moving, Orb won't transmit your steps to the app, and even if you're constantly moving, you'll have to use the app on your phone to stream data. I work at a desk, but I wanted something that would motivate me to move more. Since I don't walk very often, if I wanted to know my progress I had to open the app, manually press the button on the ball and hope they synced. This worked about 70% of the time. As for sleep tracking, you'll have to manually turn it on again and then manually turn it off before getting out of bed. I used to wear it on the waistband of my jeans, but one day I decided to wear it on my front pocket instead. I went to a restaurant, came home and found he was gone. I think the clip somehow loosened and fell off. Being rubber, the fall was silent and I didn't even notice it. I don't dare to buy a new one. It was a cheap little experiment that lasted about a month.
