Poor watch strap design

The second metal ring on the strap is not adjustable so the end of the strap protrudes when worn. Why would they sew on a second ring instead of sliding it up and down as intended? Also, it looks much shinier than the picture. The band was the perfect length, but the pins that came with the band were 1-2mm shorter.
