Review on Amprobe 4589825 BAT 250 Battery Tester by Ryan Dillon

Needs a little improvement

Like a few other people who have left feedback on this, I have one of those old basic Radio Shack battery testers which itself doesn't use batteries, just has a simple good or bad mechanical Arrow. About fifty years later it still works, but recently the needle hasn't returned to zero and I'm not sure how accurate it is. So I settled on this one, which is almost the same. One major thing that made me buy this is that it has a simple resistor inside that simulates a battery under load. Not all battery testers have this. It should be more accurate. It doesn't matter, I'm just interested in whether the battery is usable or not. This thing will tell you about it. I found my old one to be a bit more handheld, this one feels upside down, being right handed to me it would have been more natural to hold the device in my left hand and insert the batteries in my right hand. With that they fall out all the time, I think I'll get used to it. It's well made and very reasonably priced, and it only has one minor downside: they use black ink on the red and green scales, which is hard to read, it would make more sense to use white ink. But really all I care about is how far the needle swings, so it's not a big deal. I like it.

Pros
  • Very good quality
Cons
  • Negative gift
