Now that my twins are three years old it has been a lot of fun buying toys that my husband and I had when we were kids. For their third birthday, my husband was dying to get our kids Lincoln Logs because they were his favorite childhood toy and something he wanted to give our kids. I've never had Lincoln Logs so this is my first experience with them. There are so many Lincoln Logs out there, but I liked the idea of having a tin to keep them, so we ordered a 100th Anniversary set. This set contains 111 pieces in a tin that is approximately 11 1/2 inches tall. I have included a photo of each item so you can see what is included. Here are the quantities and dimensions of each piece: 1 - 4" Red Roof Front with 'Lincoln Logs' 1 - 4" Red Roof Back 1 - 1 1/2" Red Chimney58 - 1 1/2" Logs13 - 4 1/ 2" logs, halved lengthwise 19 - 4 1/2" logs 4 - 10 1/2" logs 12 - 4 1/2" logs, halved lengthwise 2 - 4 1/2" -Logs These logs are made from real USA wood and come with instructions to show you how to build a log home and of course you can build your own.Even with 111 pieces they still fill about half a can so you can definitely buying more to first thing my husband noticed is they don't look anything like the ones he had as a kid in the 80's although they still seem pretty solid and well made.And all the wooden toys have a slight odor which can be either wood or paint but it's not too strong no ds haven't built too much with them so far and i think the magazines could do in the mo ment might be a bit too advanced for them as my kids are only 3 years old but they should grow up with them. I actually enjoy using them as I've never had one before and it will be a fun activity for the whole family! Overall I think Lincoln Logs is a good toy for young children and this set has many of the parts that got you started. It's good to have a tin to keep. The price seems pretty reasonable for wooden toys and once my kids start using them we will probably buy some other sets to build more buildings. We definitely recommend this set if you have young children who love to build!
