Small size fits my 12 lb poodle very well. If he let it, he would back away, but he picks it up so it hits him midway. The hole in the turtle's neck fits the collar and leash perfectly. It has a long, very muscular body and it's hard to find anything with adequate neck-to-leg clearance without a large collar. His legs are too big but the length is perfect. Both dogs love their new outfits. Don't rely on the size grid. The size chart measures the length of the product from the top of the turtleneck to the bottom of the crease behind the tail. The large size is about 21 inches from the leash to the end of the back, the small size is about 17 inches for the same sizes, and the medium size is about 19 inches. I have a small and medium with a large order for my three dogs. They wear them as tank tops when it's cold, with their sweaters, and on their own in their 40s. This keeps my Havenese from shaking when I walk.
