Oddly proportioned and way too tight

I've had these socks in various sizes for my kids over the years, and they just keep disappointing. It's hard to find neutral knee-high socks so I guess I just kept getting these because it was easy, but now that I finally found better socks, I realize just how annoying these ones are! Their main problem is that their ratio of foot length to calf width is all wrong. Their soles are long, but they are very tight around the calf and pinch really hard. I think they don't account for the fact that as babies grow, that ratio changes - younger babies have fatter legs but small feet, and as they turn into toddlers, their legs thin out but their feet get bigger. These socks are all built the same regardless of size/age, and it seems that they don't fit any. They are tight and difficult to put on, they pinch really hard at the top, and yet somehow still manage to slide down all the time! And because of the weird size ratio, they are especially ill-suited to the chubby legs of younger babies. On my 10-month-old, for example, the heel is halfway up to his knee, but the calf part is too tight to pull all the way up. Also, there is a huge difference between the sizes, so they are either way too small, or way too big, with maybe a year in-between where neither size fits. Basically, very disappointing socks!
