Review on Mustang Cover Seats Driver Backrests by Melvin Goerge

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Useful for the rainy Pacific Northwest.

Please read to understand why I did not give 5 stars. I wanted to spend a few more weeks in my first ski season. This cover fits perfectly on my 2000 Honda Shadow ACE with the standard seat and optional pilot back. Instead of a back seat, I have a trunk. They cover everything around them, leaving room for a margin. If I tied a small bundle to the back of the counter, it looked like there was room to cover it too. It rained lightly the first night I put it on. There is a small cut on the back of my seat. Living in the Seattle area, rain is a given and I don't want the foam to get wet and moldy. I work late shifts, so at least dew collects every night. I put the cover on and it didn't rain, but when I removed the cover there were a few small puddles of water on my seat. I believe the water "sweated" out of the seat base foam and pooled under the cover. But just in case, I sprayed the cover with a couple coats of Kiwi Camp Dry Tent Waterproofing Heavy Duty Spray. Since then it has rained a few times and each time my seat has been dry to the bone. So overall I'm happy with my purchase. All around, if the cover is elastic and fits so well, I'll ride it if it's going to rain all day. (Too lazy to take it off, store it, put it back on.) It hides well under the seat so it's DEFINITELY covered. The back part has a pull cord that can be tightened. And the back is stretched on my rack. I imagine it can stretch a million seats plus the short post behind it - it's that roomy and the resilience helps. (As long as the passenger seat doesn't have a backrest or bar.) My favorite part is the backrest, which doubles as a storage bag. It folds by itself and closes with a pull cord to lock it closed. Squeeze the air out of it by packing it up and it takes up less room than my riding gloves.
