. My situation was trying to live stream an event with my Canon (consumer) camcorder mounted on a tripod and using a fairly heavy HDMI cable to transmit the signal to my PC. Of course, the camcorder's mini-HDMI port was located right below where the screen popped out, which created two major problems: 1) any regular HDMI mini-to-full-size adapter plugged right into the camcorder's field of view screen, and 2) Without a proper mount, I could see the weight of the large HDMI cable damaging the mini jack on my camera, which I certainly DID NOT want to do. My search for the perfect adapter ended when I found this one. The mini HDMI end connects to the port on the left side of my camcorder with part of the cable pointing UP. Then I threw it over the camera on the right. Add a few inches of tape at the top of the camera to hold it in place, and the rig can now support the full weight of the HDMI cable plus a bit more without stressing the camera connector. PLUS, I had nothing in the way of the view screen. This may or may not work in your situation, but it definitely solved my problem.
