ZERO stars as this item is unusable as intended. I should have read the reviews but Revane's Choice got me hooked. You CANNOT draw air into or through these filters. I've tried many times - it was tightly closed with my mouth and only a filter and couldn't draw air in or out. Maybe a bit with a lot of effort, but nothing really. If you just slip them into the sewn-on pocket of your cloth mask, you probably won't notice them. You end up sucking air around the filter or from the side/top which actually makes your mask less effective, it's better to just use cloth. I didn't realize it at first until I dived into the reviews and started testing. In fact, it does far more harm than good. The problem is the outer white plastic/tyvek layer on the front, it's impenetrable and you can't breathe through it. I removed this layer and tested it, and only then did it become usable. Here's how you should use this filter. I suppose it's somewhat effective that way (like an extra layer of fabric or a coffee filter), but it can't work that way. The plastic layer doesn't look like it's "designed" to peel off, but it's the only way to use these things, at least remotely. Hope this helps someone.
