This was for my eight-year-old grandson's birthday. Out of all his gifts, this was the first thing he wanted to create something with. I'm not sure why others had problems, it's not built at NASA. The long pieces are slightly bendable which really was a plus with some projects he put together. I would have worried more if they were stiff plastic sticks if they broke and splintered. The bigger the creation, the softer plastic did bend a little due to the overall weight. He made one design using every stick that was big enough to be a wall divider. Obviously, that one did tip over, but it made it more fun seeing how far he could go. It's great for learning balance and leverage and just good hand-eye coordination. He has a six-year-old brother that also plays with it. I don't remember the age range, but with parental help, younger kids can enjoy it too. It's really a good gender-neutral toy.both boys and girls seem to have fun with it. There are enough pieces to divide and let several kids make their own creations. Loved it!I put 4 stars for easy to assemble for children younger than 7-8. And 4 stars for sturdiness for those bigger creations that might be too top heavy etc.
