This is great value for money. It's very big. I made two 8'x4.5' diffusion plates from just one sheet of this material. One layer isn't good for diffusing close-up light sources (like an LED directly behind the foil), but two foils are very effective. Each layer cuts out about 2.5 stops of light. So to get the same effective brightness as a simple incandescent bulb, you need about 5.5 times as many light sources, or 5.5 times as much light to get the same brightness on the other side of the flare. If you double the layers the diffusion will be incredible, but at this point you've reduced the light by a factor of 30 (5 stops). I deliberately chose one level so I don't need as much power to get the brightness I want. However, this came at the cost of reduced distribution. If you look at the photos you can see how clearly the LEDs are visible when you look directly at the diffuser panels. But actually the light quality is perfect and meets my needs. What impresses me the most is how well the material withstands being pulled, cut and clamped. The thickness and quality of the material is surprisingly good. If you don't want to put it in a frame, this works very well for diffusing light from a window.
