I usually wear a 9 and ordered 9 and they match perfectly with ankle socks. To tighten the laces, you need to start at the bottom and work your way to the ends of the laces so they tighten well. If you're using a rubbing stick, you're fine as long as you don't break it, otherwise you may not have rubbing. Overall I would definitely buy them again in a different color as they are very comfortable and stylish! All my friends loved them and my husband wanted his own pair. Use them forever for long walks!
