This zinc anode is a suitable zinc for salt water environments. Other materials like aluminum and magnesium are designed for different bodies of water and are useless in salt water. The composition of the anode is not always indicated on the anode but may contain a letter designation where the letters Z, A or M represent the type. The biggest difference found is the weight of the zinc anode compared to other materials. Zinc is more than twice as heavy as the other metals listed.
