Review on Taste of the Wild: Premium High Protein Cat Food with Real Meat, Probiotics, and Superfoods for Adult Cats and Kittens by Tammy Dellman

Magneto and Professor X have been eating this meal for a week now and I LOVE IT (and so do they)! When I adopted my kittens, I initially fed them the same dry food as their adoptive parents. Magneto ate Hill's Science Diet Kitten Healthy Development ($2.26 per pound) and Professor X ate Hill's Ideal Balance Kitten ($3.17 per pound). I then tried putting Professor X on Magneto's food, which was a horrible mistake because he started FARTING CONSTANTLY and it smelled like pungent rotten eggs. Also, his stool was runny and smelled like ROCKING DEAD ANIMALS, which he conveniently never covered up (I forgive him because he's cute). I was worried he had worms but he had negative bowel movements just before I adopted him so that was unlikely. On the advice of his foster mother, I fed him only wet food for a week and his symptoms completely disappeared. During the wet-only week, the poor kitten begged for food unbearably the whole time. He never seemed full even though I fed him the full recommended amount + whatever he could steal from Magneto. I've never seen a cat more obsessed with food in my life - he ran to his empty bowl EVERY time I passed him, probably hoping I could fill it up, poor thing. Anyway, once I was convinced that a food allergy was probably the cause of my digestive problems, I started looking for grain-free dry kitten food. I did a lot of research. I was looking for the highest quality dry food I could give, but I'm a cheap student on college loans, so I didn't want to spend $100 a month on cat food that some grain-free brands cost. What I was looking for was the highest protein content at the cheapest price, plus added probiotics that might help with Professor X's digestive issues. My competitors were Whole Earth Farms Grain-Free Healthy Kitten Recipe ($2.37 per pound), Earthborn Holistic Feline Vantage Natural Dry Cat & Kitten Food ($2.07/lb), Nulo Medalseries™ Cat & Kitten Food ($2.83/lb) and Taste of the. Wild Dry Cat Food ($2.07 per pound). I chose Taste of the Wild because the brand has a whopping 2307 Revain reviews with an average rating of 4.3/5 stars. The protein content was about 10% higher than the older brands and it mainly contained recognizable quality ingredients and probiotics. Maybe it's just a product of their natural evolution, but after a week I noticed that both cats had fluffier and shinier coats. Professor X no longer has loose stools and doesn't smell so bad (though he's still terrible at handling them). He still farts every few days which is fine as he can still get used to new foods and they are not as spicy. In addition, feed pellets SMELL SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than old dry food! I didn't even realize the old food smelled bad until I smelled this one, which smells like weed, not dead fish. I no longer hold my breath every time I feed cats. Compared to pure wet food feeding (4-5 times a day), cats with the addition of dry food Taste of the Wild are satiated much faster and longer. Now I feed them 3 times a day and they never ask for food except in the morning. Also, this food is good for all ages so I don't have to switch them to other foods as they get older. One star deducted because the bag I received expires in 2.5 months (this isn't a problem for me personally as my cats will probably finish earlier, but if anyone only had one, the cat would be on a diet, her would likely expire before they're done with it) and that the packaging cannot be resealed. Other than that, Taste of the Wild has been amazing so far!
