Review on New Balance Mens MW877 Walking by Keith Wachtel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very comfortable, neat, no profile

I love New Balance shoes. Many shoes ago I found that NB is about half a size smaller than many other shoes. So if you normally wear a 10 1/2, try NB 11 for the perfect fit. That is my experience. I have some problems with my feet and overall NB has very soft and comfortable insoles. The top wears well too. Some are better than others. These MW877s feel the best right away and I've been wearing them for weeks now, every other day, all day, with no complaints. It's unusual for me, so I'm writing this. NB has many styles. I have many of their MW series hiking shoes and will share what I have found. I have MW977 boots as well as MW780, MW950, MW759, MW3000 and now MW877 boots. Although these are all MW Series rollators, their profile and comfort vary. The boots have a deep profile and a hard but very comfortable insole. I've had them for many years and the hard insole hasn't deteriorated. Ideal for walking your dog along a stream or a longer path, but not for gardening as the low profile allows a lot of dirt to collect on the ground. 780 and 950 look the same. The 780 has almost as much profile as boots and a mesh upper. The 950 has a full grain leather upper and a very light profile. The former are suitable for easy hikes, the latter for gardening. All three mentioned are older and may no longer be available. I mention them so they can help you with my comparisons if you have them. In addition, the insoles of the last two wear out over the years. They're fine for a few hours, but then my feet start complaining. I've tried replacement soles and they just didn't work for me. I have problems with my feet, maybe they will fit you. Note, however, that all of these NB shoes have an upper that wears well enough to consider replacing the sole after a few years. These last three shoes are newer, within the last two years. The 759 was my favorite everyday shoe with jeans. Very comfortable insole with mesh upper and medium profile. They look like sneakers with a medium profile. I received 3000 earlier this year. All with a leather upper and a lightweight profile. There are some similarities to the previously mentioned 950s, but the 3000s look a lot better and are very comfortable all day long. They look pretty enough to wear with slacks. In my opinion. The new 877 falls somewhere between the 3000 and the 950. They have a mesh upper so they look a bit like sneakers, but the tread on the bottom is so light it reminds me of boat shoes. It's not what I expected - a different look. Not that they look bad. They have a very clean look, no profile. When I put them on, I changed my mind. These are the most comfortable NB shoes I've ever had and they look pretty good. So I hope this comparison helps. Just to prove my opening suggestion, I also have a pair of trainers and NB trainers. I like New Balance.
