I was looking for a PC for my sailboat at sea, for navigation and HF communication with my favorite software packages. The Raspberry Pi4 almost fit the bill and was definitely the right price. An Intel NUC would be great but expensive with the features I wanted. This little block is just what I need. Excellent performance and not too expensive. So far it's running smoothly and thankfully it's quiet, although I haven't tested it in warm conditions. The small form factor offers a secure installation. I could measure the power consumption. At idle, with all four cores clocked down to 800MHz, it drew 0.33A at 12V and just under 4W. Using Prime95 to overclock all four cores to 100% and 2600MHz, it drew 1.3 Amps at 12.0 volts or almost 16 watts. I didn't get a chance to see what the maximum part of the GPU chip would do. With normal usage, the computer spends much more time idling than with maximum usage.
