I have had one since 2015. I don't use it every day, but I use it often enough to say that it's durable and reliable. The entire tripod leg is made of steel. It is very important. The only non-metal part on the leg are the protective plastic/rubber caps on the ends of the legs. I superglued the ends because I was afraid of losing them if they slipped off. I actually use the legs more than the pole itself with other shorter selfie sticks and phone accessories to make desktop phone stands and tripods. I lube the leg hinges and they hold up very well. I've used a tripod base and monopod to hold a Samsung digital smart camera, Sony action cameras, and even a very small Sony digital HD Handycam. I don't know if I would put the weight of a DSLR on it. But any point-and-shoot digital camera or GoPro/Action Cam is easy to hold. The Samsung Galaxy camera is quite large for spot shooting, so it's easy to hold.
