Review on πŸ”Œ YIHUA 939D+ Digital Soldering Station: Precision Heat Control & ESD Safe (Black) by Logan Tripp

worked for several weeks without any problems until the sudden death

looks like a well designed soldering tool. I got it to replace my crude 20-year-old Craftsman unit (glad I didn't throw it away!) but the temp reading on this fancy unit didn't seem to match the peak temp very closely - at max temp. It was difficult to install, even melting thin solder without more delay than I expected. Before I could decide if it was a real problem or if I was just impatient, it stopped heating the tip altogether. The display still works properly and reports a rise in temperature, except it doesn't send heat to the tip - so no soldering. Tech support advised via chat to "unplug and plug back in" which I have done several times. Given the modest cost of this unit, I'll probably just take it apart and see if there's something obvious wrong inside rather than attempting to repair or replace under warranty, so it's up to me and not the manufacturer. They've been nice enough in the chat, but I think this device is like that 40-year-old refrigerator that's still running in the basement. The more tech you put into a product, the less useful it becomes for the main purpose you get it for.

Pros
  • Metal housing and heat-resistant design: The control panel of the Yihua 939D+ is made of brushed aluminum so that you do not accidentally leave burn marks. The included standalone iron stand is also made of solid metal alloy. You can place it anywhere and organize your work space the way you want.
Cons
  • Long Delivery Time
