Great phones with a SERIOUS design flaw

UPDATE: August 2012 Shure has replaced my phones! I wrote to them and called them. Very friendly staff. It turned out there was a Shure partner in New Delhi and I went to him and they immediately exchanged the phones for new ones. The manufacturer's warranty is two years, which is great. The design flaw remains, of course. I'm Shure, they'll fix it. I wouldn't want to use any other set of lenses. You are just perfect. UPDATE: July 2012 There is a metal T-hook that fits on the top (head) part. It is held in place by a plastic cap that is screwed on with 4 small screws. This plastic cap broke on my right cup and will also break on my left cup (I just checked). This plastic "cap" holding the metal tee is very easy to break. It broke on my right can and almost on my left. I posted some photos. I really think Shure needs to address this and reinforce the design at the joints. These caps had to be metal. Remember I used these phones VERY VERY carefully. I don't see them working in a true commercial studio environment. Plus they still have a great sounding pair of cans. __________________________________________________________________________ My mixes improved once I started using these banks. re-equalization of your mixes. They are decently transparent and have a characteristic almost flat color. To find out exactly how these doses respond, search for "Shure SRH440+ Frequency Response". Peak to return to normal say at 10kHz after which the response falls off. I did a little research and picked them over the 840. A Shure engineer or someone said they were better for mastering/mixing. You can google "Shure 440 vs 840" if you want to confirm this. I just didn't really like the plastic feel of some of the ports. I don't think it matters much. I will update this review next year to write about how it worked for me.
