Review on Scapple by Chris Barreto

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Scapple is a collaborative tool that lets you take your notes anywhere.

i love the idea behind scapple. It's like taking a whiteboard into the cloud and gives you access to it wherever you are. As a team we used scapple to collaboratively brainstorm about new ideas, plan future projects, and structure information about previous projects. We found it to be invaluable when collaborating across different disciplines, offices, and time zones. We also used it to help us get organized and stay on track with project planning and progress tracking. I would recommend using scapple if your goal is just keeping all of your notes together as one place, so they're easily accessible whenever needed (and ideally searchable). For more formal collaboration purposes, such as project management or research, other tools might be better suited.

Pros
  • You can open a note at any time and continue work from your original location.
  • Good integration with other online tools, including Dropbox and Google Drive.
Cons
  • But once it's set up, it's super easy to start creating new notes and sharing them with others.
  • Note editing requires multiple people - not ideal for situations where someone needs to edit a note right away.
