I bought a clear case for my 2018 MacBook Air as a smart choice for an expensive computer that I travel with often. I didn't want a lot of frills, but I needed the basics. I bought it for $13 and it came with 3 products with additional features as advertised. After installing the kit, I was impressed that the case wasn't a distraction; like it never existed and it keeps the minimalist spirit of my MacBook Air. This clear case was perfect for both the body and the aesthetics and I would highly recommend this great value product. A major downside of this case, which may not affect everyone, is that connected USB-C hubs become incompatible. These hubs are not popular keys. The affected hubs both use USB-C ports and should fit perfectly. The case has a cutout for USB-C ports, but the extra thickness on the sides means these USB-C hubs won't fit. For more details, I will go into detail about the products in this set. Clear Hard Plastic Case: The outer shell was clear as advertised and the plastic finish is very glossy. This goes well with the gold color of my MacBook, making it feel like a shiny gold toy. One of the main reasons I bought the 2018 MacBook Air was because I needed a computer that was fun to use. In addition to hard work and study, it is important to me that such an expensive product is seen as something that I would like to use and not just have to use. I was picky about the cases as I didn't want to lose the cool factor, but once installed the shiny gold makes it even cooler. Installation was easy and intuitive with no manual to read. The downside of the suitcase is its extra weight. The weight of the plastic speaks volumes, but for people who want the convenience of a lightweight laptop that the MacBook Air offers, this sleeve can add an uncomfortable amount of weight. Personally, this is not a problem, but keep this in mind. As mentioned, this case also adds to the thickness of the laptop, which can make some USB-C hubs incompatible, but this doesn't affect dongles that extend with a cable. Screen Protection For those familiar with plastic screen covers, it's the same. Concept. This becomes difficult if you don't know how to apply plastic screen coatings or have never done anything like this before. It's harder than a phone screen because it's more than four times the size. With the right preparation and practice, it turned out that there were bubbles here and there that were only visible in certain lighting conditions. I may be able to apply these things better than the average person. So if you're not sure, ask a family member or friend. I started by wiping the screen first with electronic wipes that weren't included. Please note that water or regular Windex will destroy the screen, so learn how to properly clean your screen. After that, I gently wiped the screen with the microfiber cloth that came with it. I recommend placing the screen on your desk under direct light so you can see any imperfections. Once the dust or other particles were gone, I peeled off half of the self-adhesive backing and stuck the protective film in place from top to bottom, using the included squeegee to squeeze out any air bubbles. I would remove the rest of the adhesive cover as I went down. Although air bubbles were present, most of them diminished or disappeared after the adhesive settled. The MacBook Air has a Retina display, so I was a bit worried about how that would affect things, but there's no noticeable difference between what was before and what was after. Overall, the screen protector does the job and everything else is optional. It is no more glossy and no matte than without the protective film - Keyboard cover The keyboard cover is translucent and matte. Just like the hard case, it is easy to install without any instructions. The plastic is flexible and durable, allowing it to withstand hundreds of thousands of keystrokes. The cover cuts out the Touch ID key so you can keep using it. They've added more tactile functionality to the F and J keys to make typing easier. I prefer this because I use a lot of different keyboards so it's easier for me to calibrate my typing. As with the other included products, it has everything you need and nothing you don't. Extras Extras include a microfiber cloth that I used to apply the screen protector, a small storage pouch with a string, and an extra surface. Projections outside of included.
