I have a home built gaming PC that I have in my living room. I used wireless devices for my mouse and keyboard, but wireless interference between the keyboard, mouse, headset, and my camera caused all kinds of lag, and then when we wanted to play games with controllers, there were cables running around the room and it was driving my wife crazy will. It was perfect from the start, allowing me to run the cable through the wall behind my computer and TV, through the floor to the basement, and then back through the wall on the other side of the room in a box with two ties in the box jump the wall and sit under a pillow on the couch. This allows me to "hide" it when not in use and plug it into a 5-port USB 3.0 hub when needed. So I basically put the mouse, keyboard and controllers in one spot next to the two of us whenever I wanted and just unplugged them and put them in a little wicker basket under the coffee table when I'm done I don't have cords to lay throughout the living room. where you can stumble across it in the dark. Very good. One thing to note is that the power cord to be plugged in is best near where you connect it to the PC or computer. It's not necessary, but since mine was next to a large UPS, it was best for protection and to keep me awake in the event of a power outage. Others have said that the large "boxes" on the cable are annoying, but I didn't have that problem as I just caught the ends through the floor and wall, which just meant working with slightly larger ends, not much more than with a normal cable. USB cable. Your mileage may vary, but this worked perfectly for me. I've yet to permanently install the cable in my basement as it's just starting to show up, but that won't be a problem, and since it's in the basement it's really not that much of an eyesore on a regular basis. It has a problem with every extension between it and the PC by the way, so I wouldn't recommend it. At first I thought I would have trouble getting the cable to reach my computer and plug it into a power source, but in the end it didn't become a problem. I had a short 2ft cable that was a thick USB 3.1 cable and it failed to complete setup after plugging it in. After removing the extender it was done and has been working without problems ever since. Also with connected flash drives and 4 other devices. no problem. transferred files from SSD to PC at around 300MB/s so not too bad, flash drive was over 120MB/s so again not bad. I connected an extension to the opposite end to go through the wall and to my sofa and it worked fine, although you might want to get a good quality one to make sure you don't have a voltage drop or current drop due to meter or distance from the cable. I have about 12-15 feet I think something like that between the couch and the computer so I had to do this without spanning anything across the room and floor.
