Review on AT&T CL82257 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Answering Machine | Call Blocking, Caller ID, Intercom | Long Range, Rose Gold - 2 Handsets by Karen Peterson

Nice Call Blocker Phone

I replaced an old Vtech cordless phone. Like most people, I got tired of robocalls and telemarketers and received 8-10 calls a day. I saw this one and decided to buy it based on the good reviews. I am not disappointed with the purchase. I bought the rose gold/white because I liked the color combo and it was a nice change from the regular black/silver we've always had. However, the biggest feature that I liked the most was that it had the ability to block calls for up to 1000 numbers. This was much more than the normal 150-250 number capacity that other phones had. I've had this phone for 2 months now and have already added 156 calls to the blocked list. I know it will be much higher in the coming months. The menu on this phone also seems a bit quicker than on the Vtech. I took the phone outside in my backyard and had no transmission issues. Some people have noticed the stability of base phones when dropped and not very reliable. I didn't find it a big problem. The Home Base has a small footprint that protrudes from behind the handset to securely protect the phone. The remote base doesn't have this feature so the phone is a little less secure, but as I mentioned it has never been dropped from the base. I suppose if the base gets hit lightly it will fall out. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the speech synthesizer. One would think that after so many years, phone makers could program a much clearer voice into phones. I also turned on the voice call ID feature so I can hear who's calling me without having to get up and look at the screen. The problem with this feature is that words are not always pronounced correctly. He pronounces words the way they are spelled, not the way they should be pronounced. This can leave you scratching your head and still looking at the screen. Some words are abbreviated or truncated due to lack of screen space, and the resulting pronunciation can be funny but also useless. Overall volume isn't as loud as the Vtech, but acceptable. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision and overall in my opinion this phone is very good and durable.
