If you (like me) are confused by the wildly differing reviews, let me try to clarify a few things: 1. They are made of flannel material. It is not stretchy like a flannel shirt but very soft.2. The material is not very thick and not thin - it is like a light flannel shirt.3. They're not very long, which I like because I'm not very tall. I'd say XL probably has a 32 inseam (or maybe a little less). I think the quality is pretty good. I washed one pair several times and wore them all day each time. I don't notice any quality problems.5. I didn't order the red penguins based on other reviews, but the white polar bear on a navy blue background stayed white. TL; DR I think they're really good for the price.
