Not everyone needs a remote shutter release to trigger the camera, but those who have one can be quick to point out the limitations of typical IR remotes, which require good aim and line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. . RF transmitters are not new, but they have become much more affordable in recent years, and AODELAN is near the top of the price scale for off-brand solutions. The goal is pretty clear and goes beyond activating the camera. Away from the built-in button (up to 160ft), everything from monitoring the image to capturing shy wildlife opens up. However, the latter might be better for WiFi modules that also transmit an image to know what the camera sees. In addition, these devices also offer more extensive timers, which are somehow untypical for even the most expensive DSLRs. Interval shooting is probably the most notable downside of the long list of features. On the other hand, very few people really need it. The remote shutter depends on one of two connection modes. Of course, you can also connect the timer directly to the camera's remote release input. In this case, you don't have much distance, but you still have a lot more freedom when working with your models. It also avoids touching the camera, which can cause vibration in sensitive macro shots. In wired mode you also have a hot shoe if you need it. In wireless mode, the cable is replaced with a receiver that points to the hot shoe and then plugs into the same input on the camera. In this mode, the trigger now communicates with the receiver via the 2.4 GHz radio frequency responsible for the range. In this configuration, all functions except the hot shoe are available. This is not necessarily a problem, but it can cause problems with remote flash firing. Overall, AODELAN works well with my Canon EOS 5D III camera and performs as expected. It's a holdover from a time when cameras didn't have built-in Wi-Fi. Newer models (e.g. EOS 5D IV) have more comfortable options. But if your budget allows you to just use a shutter button instead of a new camera, this remote is a good choice for longer distances or more powerful sync options.
