Well worth installing

First I bought this 'like new' one for about $90 including shipping. For the price it can't be beat. It prints at the highest quality. It scans to your mobile app and to your computer (more on that). Installation took 30 minutes with updated drivers and firmware from the Lexmark website. I used a Windows 10 computer via USB and Wi-Fi and an Android phone to install. Downloading the software was a little confusing as Lexmark had more than one downloads page available and they didn't provide clear descriptions of the utilities. But I guessed the basic software, updated print and scan drivers and updated firmware. It's not the most intuitive setup process to be honest. But it works. One of the main tricks is that once set up with the mobile app, you simply enter the printer's IP address into a web browser. This will open a great setup page where you can access everything about your printer including the firmware update menu. The second major complaint with ANY negative review is a scan on your computer. It was too easy. I downloaded the free NAPS2 app. This is a scanning utility that immediately found the Lexmark MB2236 as a WIA scanner. The NAPS2 scan utility is way better than the last HP utility I used. It has built-in OCR text recognition, which HP didn't offer. Overall I understand the negative reviews. This printer is 1990's plug and play versus 2020's P'n'P. It takes a little guessing and a little knowledge to make it work. But the functionality is amazing once you know how to get it working.
