I have a couple of memory foam mattresses now, one cheaper model from DHP Sleep and the other. I will say that the price difference between this one and the cheaper one (about $400 difference) doesn't directly translate into a better experience. However, Serta's attention to detail and build quality make it a solid choice, and also a lot cheaper than just about every internal spring option they make. Memory foam is different when you're new to it and some adjustment may be needed. When we switched to our newest innerspring mattress, it was well past its prime, so we could see an improvement right away. This type of mattress hugs your body, balances heavy and light points very well, and makes you feel relatively weightless, unlike sleeping on an old-fashioned mattress. These new models don't have heat-lock issues because they use different types of foam in addition to memory foam. In fact, a pure memory foam mattress would not be comfortable at all as you would sink your torso and hips until you reached maximum compression and felt a hard surface beneath the mattress. Instead, this mattress features durable foam at the lowest level for weight absorption, memory foam that wraps around the contours of the body, and lightweight foam that doesn't absorb heat on top. It's been carefully designed to eliminate the problems that foam can cause and gets the job done well (better than the DHP model, as you'd expect). as well as seats or multi-purpose surfaces if you're the kind of person who loves lounging in bed and multitasking. But it cushions movements in a unique way, meaning you won't feel it if your partner is tossing and turning. This is a big advantage. It's also pretty stable if you're into adventures over drowsiness. I still miss some aspects of innerspring mattresses, but I feel a lot better when I wake up and will probably continue to sleep on memory foam mattresses from now on.
