Well built and very strong when fitted correctly. I'm happy with what I use it for (office) but keep a few things in mind. You get what you pay for, it's nowhere near a bargain-priced piece of furniture, it's just utilitarian. To be sure, I have an affordable black engineered wood bookcase in my living room; I mean I'm not a snob. But even I wouldn't put it in my living room. Brown laminate shelving with strong wood grain variations tends to look ugly and fake. If the shelves were what most people refer to as "espresso," that would be "nice," but they're too orange. Even the wooden frame is too orange for an espresso, although the frame doesn't look cheap and fake like the shelves. I was hoping against all odds that the picture on the internet didn't reflect the true color, but it really is. This is NOT an espresso. Also note the rather noticeable gold brackets on the FRONT edge of the shelves. It took me a full two hours to put one unit together - it was with no mistakes or rework, no reading comprehension problems, and I am very comfortable. Other than that, everything went pretty well, so no delays with it. I think two hours is a lot. There's a lot of detail - just 78 screws, anchors and cams - it would be more if you're doing a wall mount. One day I will find out that time is money and that it might be worth spending more on local gatherings. If you're "special" when it comes to aesthetics, you're not going to like this. This is not a "piece of furniture". This is not solid wood as the description suggests. Of course it is "made of" (somewhat) solid wood. Again, it's explosion-proof once assembled, but it's not particularly attractive and takes a long time to assemble.
