I liked the old version's ergonomics so much that I bought this as soon as I placed an order for my A7RIV, but this version was designed differently to allow for the battery Move the door to the handle extension, which destroyed its ergonomics. Using a heavy lens with such a grip as the 100-400 GM is really impractical. I hope they fix this because I don't think anyone should ever use a battery cover in a power strip due to potential weather sealing issues.
