The best flashlights for the price.

I bought this to replace the headlight I had previously when my bike was recently stolen. Badly secured the bike, my fault. The light I had before was good but I had some issues that I wanted to avoid with my new light and this light works well. This is probably closer to advertised lumens than most cheap Revain bulbs. It's definitely bright enough to be seen in any lighting conditions where you need light. It's definitely bright enough to be seen. It's pretty cleverly designed in terms of modes. I'm not crazy about one-button controls, but it's a trend in the industry, so there's not much you can do about it. It has four modes: high, medium, low and strobe. The flash is not unpleasant, but it does attract attention. It's a lot smaller than I expected and it's amazing that it's so bright and has such a good beam for its size. It's small and light, easy to toss in a pocket or bag when latched. The mount holds the light really well and I would recommend removing the entire mount, not just the light. The clip that holds the flashlight looks solid, but it's made of plastic and wears out with frequent switching on and off. The rubber bands seem to be more durable. I haven't had flashlights long enough to comment on battery life, but with this light I don't think it matters to most people. The headlight's charging port is Micro-USB and it comes with a charging cable that seems to be a decent cable. The connector is located in the center rear of the flashlight and is accessible in most cases when the flashlight is installed. The light works while charging, so you might be able to use a small lipstick-style external battery pack to power the flashlight while you drive. So you can triple or quadruple the running time with very little weight, sometimes even without additional weight. The taillight can be charged when installed, but you may need a right-angle USB cable as the gap is quite narrow. It would be nice to move the charging connection to the edge of the rear light instead of to the rear wall in future models. The headlight mount is pretty neat, tipping from side to side and doing so with varying tension. A set screw that changes this voltage is in the clamp that holds the light. This allows you to tilt the light left or right a certain degree to direct the beam exactly where you want it or to avoid cable shadows. The bracket makes the light a little high. So if you have handlebar spacing issues, e.g. with the cross bar you will need to mount it under the harness or use an extension to get clearance but it will work. Rubber bands have multiple stops for installing pipes of different diameters or changing the density of their tension. The brackets have a non-slip pad or foam pads that prevent the flashlight from slipping, even in the event of strong vibrations. As good as the headlight is, the star of the show here is the taillight, which is impressively bright for its size. It really grabs attention, maybe on the verge of being too flashy, but definitely gets the job done. If it seems too bright, the mount pivots up and down to adjust the angle and keep you in line of sight without blinding others, while allowing adjustment for sagging or aggressively angled tubes or seatposts. It has six modes: high, medium and low with constant blinking. You select modes, double-click to choose steady or blinking, and press and hold to turn them off. Double-clicking when it's off will change the mode when you turn it back on. It remembers the mode but not the brightness. The flashing mode at its brightest setting is fast enough to be distracting in my opinion, but the other modes aren't too bad. Attract attention in any mode. Like the headlight, it has several stops or recesses for adjusting the tension or grip tubes with different diameters. It looks like it could be attached to the helmet vents and is light enough not to weigh it down. It could accommodate small diameter hiking poles used as signaling aids or night hikes to mark a campsite or to keep track of group members along the way. However, there are a few improvements that could be made. The lights could be a little smarter, the toggle could have memory or selectable modes. No one really needs to switch from constant to blinking so much that they have to be in a switching cycle the whole time. It is more likely that someone will need to switch from on to off or off to bright NOW. A mode that lets you toggle it on and off instantly would be great. It would be nice if it remembered the last setting and used it when you turn it on. The tail light is almost universal. It works on the freeway in a tour group, outdoors in low light or darkness, and it works on the track so the driver behind you knows where you are. The headlight is good for most conditions but probably not good enough for very dark and tricky trails or singletrack. Both lights are very versatile and can be adapted for many purposes other than cycling. I used to dislike the idea of flashlights with on-board rechargeable batteries because once they die they don't work until you can plug them into the wall. These lights changed my mind because with just a small backup battery and the included USB cables you can drive at least a few LONG nights or have a light even if you forgot to charge it at home. When riding certain e-bikes you will never need to charge your flashlight efficiently as many e-bikes have USB outputs either on the display or on the battery. If you're looking for a really good flashlight that won't break the bank, this set is for you. I bought one for myself and one for a friend who needed a better than stock light for his e-bike. He didn't realize how little he could see with the old light until he installed it. Make sure to be careful with the angle of the light when riding in traffic or on paths with pedestrians or other cyclists. It's a bright enough place to really affect other people's vision if it hits them directly. Hard to find a better lamp for the price.
