Review on Gates 42156 Water Pump Standard by Shawn Parker

For some strange reason this pump was on sale last week for next to nothing so I sold it out. The fit and finish is really good, equal or better than any other water pump I've ever put on a car and I've done quite a bit over the years. The main bearing feels extremely strong, all machined contact surfaces are smooth as glass and the raw castings are free from imperfections and dross. Some people seem to hate these pumps (of course I did my research before pulling the trigger on the purchase), but other people seem to hate ALL the different brands at one time or another. Gates appears to be a reputable brand and this pump appears to be very reliable. Edit: (09/19/2015) The pump has been in the car for almost two years now. No problems, no leaks, works great. Would definitely buy again!
