These candles each take 3 AAA batteries and will run approximately 150 hours. There are settings for steady light, with three levels of brightness, and a flicker mode with either fast or slow flicker. The slow flicker looks the most like real candle flames. See my included video of the slow flicker mode. The LED stays nice and cool, so these are safe to use around flammable decorations. The remote is simple to use, but only has a range of a few feet, so you'll want to keep it nearby for adjusting the candles and to turn them on and off. Each candle stands roughly 10 inches tall and are easy to remove from their golden bases for storage. The batteries are inserted from the bottom of the candle by unscrewing what amounts to a cap from the bottom.
