Great backpack, new favorite

Got this backpack to replace a 20L backpack from another brand. This is my third Osprey bag (130L, 42L and now 24L) and they don't disappoint. ADVANTAGES: 1. The amount of features this pack has is amazing and new features will be added as I use it. 2nd quality material. I'm not worried about damaging this and if it does, Osprey's warranty is great.3. The size is perfect. It's noticeably larger than the 20-litre I used, but it's still quite compact but packs quite a bit. This is the perfect size when you need space but don't want to carry a large backpack. I can fit my survival gear / what I need for a day hike, 2 half full packing cubes and a toiletry bag. (I thought it was some kind of trick, but the stretchy pocket on the outside holds my raincoat well and saves me having to use the interior for it)3. The AirSpeed suspension system is AMAZING! The shoulder straps adjust similarly to my Mystery Ranch bag and the mesh keeps sweat off your back. The side/front water bottle holders are pretty handy. A dedicated water bladder compartment is useful. Items can be placed in the bottom corners (a 45 pack of baby wipes, packs of tuna, gloves) and they tuck away, not cluttering up the rest of the packing space. CONS: 1. My biggest complaint is the side pocket for organization. There is essentially no organization and the opening is a bit small. The slanted mesh pocket is nice, but it's just one big pocket and anything you put in it just piles up on the bottom. The bag itself is actually a pretty decent size, so it's a bit of a shame Osprey didn't add more mesh pockets there. ----- Workaround: Osprey's tool roll is a great little organizer. I decided to insert a small D-ring into the top of the bag and attach it. I used braided cord and attached this through the liner to the bag's already existing reinforced seam. Now the tool roll is stowed and out of the way and actually slides out of the pocket for easy access and I don't even have to unplug anything. 2. It is insignificant, but the water hose is quite bulky. I don't like it curling up and going through my chest or curling up in my backpack so I ended up cutting it off to shorten it.

Pros
  • Flat front zip pocket, inner pocket and key clip
Cons
  • unreliable
