No, this balaclava won't protect you from arctic temperatures, but it does keep my face and ears warm in the Wisconsin winter. I like the ability to tighten or loosen the front part, but note that there are small gaps between the cheeks and the eyes for air to get in. I wear them with Oakley ballistic goggles to protect my eyes from the cold and they go well with a balaclava. If you want something that can withstand very cold temperatures you can invest in something at a higher price point, but if you're looking for something that will keep you moderately warm in winter, like in Wisconsin, then this is for you.
