Not as good as Rowenta DW5080

My last iron was Rowenta DW5080. I bought it in November 2016. It worked great but since a year or so the power cord connection inside the iron must have worn out causing the iron to lose power from time to time. I fixed the problem by tying the power cord in a certain spot and used it that way until November 2018 when the connection eventually got so bad it stopped working at all. Two years of almost daily use. Not bad, but not great either. I chose the 8080 because I thought it would be an update to that model. Unfortunately there are some design differences that I don't like and would happily buy another 5080. I'll check the ironing power first. I use Full Steam for almost everything I iron. Most of my clothes are made of cotton or cotton blends, so I usually iron at a high temperature with full steam. This iron produces pretty good steam, but I think the 5080 actually produced more steam at a lower temperature. I feel like I have to crank it almost to the max to get the same vapor production, and that's not always the best. I will say that the heat setting seems pretty accurate, so a small adjustment changes the setting one way or another. I'm having trouble with several theme features. The lid on the water inlet is difficult to open. On 5080 it opened immediately; Each time I have to use two hands and fiddle with it more than I should. For the record, I'm a 39 year old male with perfect eyesight and I'm having a hard time seeing how much water is in this thing. With the 5080, you could see the water level at a glance despite the brown paintwork. On this one, the blue plastic is so dark that I have to tilt it back and forth to get the light right where I can see the water. Next, the power gauges are about the same, but the heat gauge is smaller and harder to see. On the 5080, this is the large orange indicator on the side of the iron. On this, they decided not only to make it smaller, but also to drown it in the side. I know it's all the little things, but they add up. If it lasts longer than two years, then I'm happy with the purchase. When I encounter the same problem with the power cord, I get angry. Generally not bad hardware, but the 5080 is easier to use and cheaper.

Pros
  • understandable for the old ones
