This is a large soldering iron tip suitable for difficult soldering when you need a lot of thermal mass in the tip to get solder liquid (e.g. when soldering on heatsinks, for example). I've been using it for a month and it withstands high temperatures (over 800 degrees Fahrenheit) fairly well, but like most screwdriver bits, it's difficult to keep the corners free of oxidation and dirt at the end. So if you are buying this I would recommend also buying a jar of Preservative for Tip (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BDOEUU/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i04?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to go with it preserve end. Corners are clean.
