My children enjoyed the "space" version so much I ordered this one as well, and they were thrilled. This comes with everything you'll need except for oven, pan and foil to bake, plus paper to protect your workspace. There are four colors of clay (the yellow glows in the dark!) an instruction booklet, a shaping tool, and little eyes to complete your projects. There's also a camping diorama of thick paper/thin cardboard to put together.The completed projects are very cute, and my kids were absolutely thrilled. The instructions are very clear and pretty easy to follow. Why only 4 stars then? We did have a little trouble getting pieces to stick together well enough without squishing them out of shape in the process, meaning I've had to glue tiny features like noses and legs back on to baked figures. Make sure you get a wide and flat enough base so they won't tip forward in the oven.The box says that it makes 15 erasers. That may be technically true, if you make one of each design exactly as shown. It's not going to work out that way for us, since my kids want to make more of the designs they like the most. Also, while it's novel that they can be used as erasers, my children certainly don't want to after they've put in the time making them.There is also some room for creativity. My armadillo-loving child mixed brown clay, as instructed for making otters, and modified the hedgehog instructions to make a very cute armadillo.I think the recommendation for 8+ pretty accurate, but certainly can be enjoyed younger with extra help. Obviously with the baking, this is an activity you're going to want to supervise.Overall, this is a great set to experience with a child or would make a great gift.
