Bought to replace my 08 Civic. Installation is easy and takes no more than 5 minutes, although some reviews say "parts broke during battle" or "needs sanding". Most people just don't understand cars, but I'll cover you. This part is an exceptional replacement and better than the factory part in my opinion. This part does not have a spring-loaded lid, allowing it to remain fully open during use. To use? The spring-loaded cap causes premature wear of the accessory by applying light but constant pressure to the 3.5mm jack when it is in the port. Although it may seem trivial at first glance, a sufficient amount of time will result in component failure, especially if you frequently disconnect the auxiliary cable (another cause of component failure). Friendly Tip: Always leave the optional extension cord plugged into the port after installation. Use an extension cord as the main connection. That way only the extension cord can fail. It is much easier and cheaper to replace than the entire auxiliary assembly. To remove the OEM option connector housing: 1) Remove the cover inside the CD holder/accessory compartment under the radio. 2) Gently pry off the accessory port cover with a flat screwdriver 3) The accessory case has 2 slots; 1 on each side and a very small pull tab at the bottom center. Take a flathead screwdriver and press the small tab in the middle of the accessory case. The surrounding trim will flex slightly, allowing you to smoothly slide the lower case into the dashboard. 4) Insert a flat head screwdriver into each side where you saw the 2 slots on the lower case, push in and then back into the dash. until the entire sub-housing in the dashboard is detached. 5) Insert your finger into the hole inside the CD compartment and then feel until you can pull out the wiring harness. This can come in handy if this is your first replacement, so don't worry if you feel like wielding power. The wire harness is pulled out with the accessory cover attached. 6) Disconnect the OEM accessory cover from the wiring harness connector (light green). 7) Now take the wire harness and thread it back into the dash towards the hole where your new accessory port will be. append Then pull the green plug out of the accessory housing opening and make sure it has some play. 8) You can now plug in the new aux port assembly, but DO NOT push the case into the dash until you are sure the replacement works. .9) After checking the performance of the replacement part, you can now insert the new housing into the dashboard. Just slide it into the hole until the latches click into place. 10) Replace the decorative cover in the CD/accessory compartment.
