This product was purchased as an aid to help me measure my weight loss progress. One of the most important functions for me was the measurement of body fat percentage and water percentage. I want to make sure I'm drinking enough water. I wanted something affordable and reliable. EASY INSTALLATION: [First activate the batteries by removing the plastic tab from the back of the scale]1. Wake the scale by briefly stepping on it with one foot.2. Press and hold the SET.3 button. Use UP/DOWN scroll button to set your user number [U1-U8].4. Gender/Athlete Mode - Select Athlete [gender symbol with an A next to it] IF you exercise 12 hours per week AND your resting heart rate is 60 beats per minute or less. [Note: I accidentally put myself in athlete mode because I didn't see the icon clearly the first time which made me think I wasn't as fat as I thought lol; Don't make the same mistake; I definitely need to lose a lot more fat than I previously thought. ;-)].5. Then set your height and age. I plan to update the age every birthday to keep the numbers as accurate as possible. After setting up the profile, step out with [clean, dry feet]. Now the scales know you are U#. After that, simply step forward to wake the scale - it will greet you with "HI" - then you will see either 0.0lb (or kg) or "Step". "On" -- make sure you are standing straight on the scale (no WET feet if you don't want to have an accident in the bathroom) -- your weight will blink 2 times then "U#" , then the scale will silently do its calculations (you will see a flashing "o" on the display when you look down (this takes about 5 seconds, more or less), then the scale will give you your stats. You can then climb up At this point, when you see "U#" and your data will flash in the following order: weight, BMI, BF%, % lean mass (indicated by a weight bar), % bone mass, and % water weight. If you press " U#" you can get off the scale and write down your data using a pen + paper or your favorite app. Your data will blink 3 times in the order you indicated before, giving you enough time to write down your data. The scale itself looks solid.It is thin with a non-slip rubber material on the bottom back to keep them firmly on the ground. The display is bright with large characters, which is very convenient. I like that d It only requires 3 batteries which is less than previous scales of the same type I have had before. No paper manual was included; However, it was provided via a link at the bottom of the scale, which I found helpful. I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for an affordable fat composition scale that is easy to set up and use.
