I have a 'one star' GE washing machine that keeps having to reset the circuit board (even after replacing the circuit board). To do this, disconnect the device from the power supply for 60 seconds and plug it in again. The location of the outlet is inconvenient to say the least, so I plugged one of these switches into the outlet to control the power going to the washing machine. It also helps when the washing machine gets stuck in one of its endless rinse/spin cycles instead of holding down the fragile and easily broken on/off button on the washing machine for 5 seconds. The only problem with this switch is buying two, but it's still cheaper than a new washing machine.
