I have plantar fasciitis on both feet. Before I was diagnosed, I thought my feet would only hurt from going to conferences due to flat feet. It turns out that flat feet AND plantar fasciitis are an even more painful experience. Needless to say, I've tried everything that could help my foot pain: creams, oils, medications, specialty shoes, and even store-bought insoles. When I concluded that foot pain was affecting my overall health because it hurt just to stand, I went to see a specialist to have my feet examined. This is where I found out I have plantar fasciitis. At that point, the doctor recommended custom insoles for my feet. This combined with physical therapy started to help a little. One of the exercises we did in physical therapy was to use a plastic roller on my legs. When I saw this wooden leg roll I thought it would come in handy when I'm a little more sore than usual. I've been using it for a week now and it seems to be helping. This is a regular roll with cleats for my foot to rest on. I roll my foot back and forth while watching TV and it's like a little massage. I would find the roller much better if one of the poles was made of heavy metal rather than wood so the roller wouldn't tip over. Above. If my leg isn't completely straight, the roller tips over very easily. My grandma has an electric leg roller so she can just sit on it with her feet. But here you have to do all the work manually by moving your foot back and forth. This is a much better option than using a tennis ball like my therapist told me at home. So if you're looking for something simple to relieve pain, this isn't a bad choice, but seeing a podiatrist and having an orthotic fitted along with therapy may be your best bet.
